About Blacklight Imaging

At Blacklight Imaging we take pride in shining light on extraordinary people of color thriving in the business world. Our mission is to “Train Your Mind To See The LIGHT in Every Situation” which is also a movement for Black Excellence celebrating extraordinary every day people. Blacklight Imaging was born during the 2020 pandemic. I was part of a lot of the marches happening in LA at that time and I always noticed the news crews covering us - hovering above us or on the margins making their commentary. I wondered who was documenting it from the ground? From eye level? From the perspective of the active participant instead of the bystander? My passion to fill that void surpassed my fears to take that leap of faith and create the company you see today.

About our CEO

Brittany Dacoff, born and raised in Los Angeles, California, has had a decade-long journey in photography that was anything but linear. Her passion for the craft began unexpectedly when she received a track scholarship to attend Briar Cliff University. Brittany purchased her first professional camera with the intention of showing her mother what Iowa—a place vastly different from Los Angeles—looked like.

What drove Brittany to pursue photography professionally was her early struggles with it. Her initial photos didn’t meet her expectations, sparking a relentless hunger to improve and master the art. This determination led her to teach herself the fundamentals of photography—sharper images, shutter speed, aperture, ISO—through YouTube tutorials while in college. She also learned through trial and error, discovering the importance of experience and dedicating countless hours to refining her skills.

Graduating with a business degree, Brittany initially ventured into the corporate world, but her passion for photography never waned. As her dissatisfaction with the corporate industry grew, she leaned into developing her creative skill set, particularly in mixed media. For Brittany, photography became more than just an art form; it was the art of observation, a way to find beauty in the ordinary.

In addition to building her own creative ventures, Brittany has used her talents and resources to make a positive impact in her community. She is a Co-Founder of The Wild Seed, a project aimed at celebrating and uplifting voices that often go unheard. Through storytelling and visual media, The Wild Seed serves as a platform to amplify and document the beauty and resilience of people within marginalized communities.

Brittany is also deeply committed to giving back. She volunteered her time and skills to help multiple families recover from the Eaton Fire, providing support and aid to those who lost so much. Her volunteer work extends to her involvement with Victory Bible Church and Pasadena Church East Campus, where she dedicates her energy to helping others through acts of service and community building.

Today, Brittany is a full-time entrepreneur, using her business degree and corporate experience to fuel her suite of ventures, all of which revolve around her passion for photography. She continues to find joy in capturing moments, serving her community, and pushing the boundaries of her creativity.
